The breast reduction consists of reducing the volume of the breasts. It is indicated in cases of breast hypertrophy, generally created by the exaggerated development of the breast glands or adipose tissue, in order to prevent back and neck pain, skin lesions and aesthetic or vascularisation problems.
Very large breasts may also result in physical and psychological problems because the patient may be embarrassed of her body. As a general rule, this surgery should not be made before the full development of the breasts which, generally, occurs between 18 and 20 years old.
The results of the procedure depends not only on the surgeon but also on the characteristics of the breast in question: the type of skin, the gland and the size of the gland.
The final result (position and shape of the breasts) will only be visible after six months.
